There are a lot of horror remakes that have come out in the last few years.  I love the classic originals of these movies, but feel some originality is now in order.  I do want to see another Friday the 13th made while they are doing these remakes.  I love Jason.

Some of these remakes have been very good and successful while others have truly fallen short.  The remake I have enjoyed the most was the 2022 Texas Chainsaw massacre on Netflix.  I truly loved this movie.  I felt that it was refreshing how it was a little more conservatives than most horror movies you see today.  I would give examples but this would involve spoilers.

I recently saw the remake of Candyman produced by Jordan Peele.  I hated this movie.  Not fun or enjoyable to watch at all.  It started out good enough, but quickly felt like political views against cops were getting shoved down my throat.  They stated that every Candyman since the 1800’s was a black man who had been wronged and killed by white man.  I understand that some people hold negative beliefs against the police or the opposite race.  I personally do not hold these beliefs.  I just watch horror movies to have fun and be entertained to escape for a while into a fantasy world I enjoy.  If these views are being pushed at me I am not going to enjoy the movie at all and I am not going to be entertained.

Another remake that is a few years older but really worth mentioning is Child’s Play.  The concept of the doll’s safety settings being changed causing his evil and killer actions is a modern and more realistic explanation.  This explanation made the whole movie enjoyable as original and new.  Don’t get me wrong I loved the original but this change was refreshing.

I really hope to review a Friday the 13th movie soon or even a Nightmare on Elm Street.  I hope if they do produce another Nightmare on Elm Street it is a script in which Nancy goes up against Freddy played by Heather Langenkamp and the legendary Robert England as Nancy and Freddy.  Heather has stated in interviews recently that she wants to take on Freddy one last time.  This would be so wonderful and awesome if the script was right.
