I know that the movie Halloween Ends has been really divisive for fans of the franchise. Some hate the movie and some like the movie. I have not seen any post from fans saying they love the movie. I am not surprised by this.
I feel that the movie was very disrespectful to our boy Michael. I do not understand how he went from the unstoppable killing machine we have all grown to love over the last forty years to a decrepit old man in the course of one movie that is only set 4 years since the last movie. They even have like a fungus mold growing on his iconic mask, so sad.
The movie did have a few good points. I like how they humanize Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) they show her stronger in this movie then she has been since H20. I like how they hint at a relationship that will start for her with Deputy Frank Hawkins.
I like how they repair the relationship between Laurie and her granddaughter towards the end. I just don’t understand what caused Allyson to stop the car after she left her grandmother Laurie’s house so angry, get out of the car, get back in the car, and turn around going back to her grandmother’s house.
I thought the relationship between Corey and Allyson was really really forced and overplayed. Not realistic at all. They made Allyson out to be kind of desperate to keep associating with Corey when he would act crazy. No real person, hopefully, would put up with this behavior. Especially early on in a relationship with nothing invested into it at that point.
I look forward to hearing other people’s opinion of this movie.
I will be doing a review of The Invitation very soon.
